Brighouse Charity Shop

Our Brighouse Charity Shop is a busy town-centre establishment selling a wide range of good-quality clothes, bric-a-brac, pictures, jewellery, toys, electrical items, books, DVDs and CDs.

The shop is managed by Mike who is more than ably assisted by his right-hand woman Helena. However, we couldn't manage without our fabulous band of volunteers who work anything from 2 hours to full days. The team comprises of both women and men whose ages range from 16 to 80+.

Volunteering

We are always looking for new volunteers to join our team. Why should you even consider donating some of your valuable time? Here's what some of our volunteers say:

Sue says ' I love working with Team Brighouse because I have been unwell and unable to work for over 7 years and I have been made to feel very worthwhile and a member of a strong team in a very friendly atmosphere.'

Mark says ' I like volunteering at the RSPCA because the staff are warm, welcoming and friendly and make me feel part of the team. This job gives me structure and a great sense of achievement.'

Jill says 'I enjoy helping a charity that does such a fantastic needed job, with the other volunteers making it all worthwhile by being extremely friendly.'

A guy on Probation says ' This is a friendly environment and everybody is easy to get along with.

Sheila says 'This is such a friendly shop - both the staff and the customers. This is a good way to give something back to the community.'

And finally, Emma says ' I enjoy comming here because it gives me a break from being a full-time Mum of 4. I have met some supersonic people who have me in stitches every week Happy Days!'

So, as you can see, people have all sorts of reasons for volunteering. Whatever your reasons are - you can be sure of a warm welcome at Team Brighouse. Just phone Mike or Helena for an informal chat. We also work closely with the Probation Service, Job Centre Plus, and the Youth Offending Team.

Donations

Do you know that many of the charity bags that end up on your doorstep only give the charity a small percentage of the total value? Sometimes as little as 10% ! If you want to donate, please bring things to the shop - that way ALL of what you give goes towards the care of the animals at the RSPCA in Halifax.

Larger items of furniture can be collected free by contacting our King Cross shop on 01422 362 461.

We greatfully accept all donations (even rags) but we are especially interested in bric-a-brac and glassware. Remember - just because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean that others won't LOVE it!
